• Wednesday, September 11, 2019 Boudie Rijkschroeff – film documentary “Hawaii my love” A short history about Hawaiian music in the Netherlands. Who does not know the Kilima Hawaiians, Rudie Wairata, George de Fretes and many other famous musicians who played Hawaiian music. Where have they gone? Unfortunately, you no longer hear and see them. The reason for this is made clear in the documentary. Boudie Rijkschroeff studied sociologist at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and obtained his PhD in 1998 on the subject “Ethnic Entrepreneurship” at the University of Groningen. He did a lot of research into migration processes and the integration of migrants. Central to this is always attention to the story of the people who are primarily concerned. He follows that line in the documentaries he makes and when writing the documentaries he makes and when writing scenarios.
• Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Harrie Djojowikromo, who already visited us last year and then told us about the krontjong, will now entertain us with poetry. This versatile artist who has a warm heart for the Javanese-Surinamese tradition, will be performing the Tembang, a Javanese poetry art, this afternoon. He accompanies himself on his guitar and sings the Tembang in Dutch.
We also have InaDance this afternoon, which will start the reading and the performance of the above artist and will close the afternoon. InaDance has already performed several times on the koempoelan.. Traditional Indonesian dances are given a modern twist.
We look forward to seeing you at our koempoelan.
