We commemorate on Tuesday 8 May at 1 p.m.
the liberation of The Hague
at the liberation monument in The Hague,
the Iren monument on the Burgemeester de Monchyplein.
Rudi Hemmes, General b.d., will tell his story. He landed with 1100 men of the Princess Irene Brigade on the beaches of Arromanches and went through the campaign to contribute to the liberation of the Netherlands.
On Tuesday 8 May 1945 the Princess Irene Brigade traveled via the Grebbeberg and Utrecht to The Hague where they were received by Mayor de Monchy at the Groenmarkt.
After that George Makowski, son of a Polish Englishman, will make a comparison between the refugees of then and now.
