de Vereniging van Oud-Gemeenteraadsleden [The Association of Old-Town Councilors] of The Hague annually awards the Piet Vink prize, named after the former alderman Piet Vink (1927-2002). Projects that bridge distances in society, increase solidarity and in which volunteers play a major role, can win a total of 4,500 euros. The prize will be awarded this year for the fourteenth time. Winners of previous years were, among others, Telefooncirkel Laak (2016).

Piet Vink
As a municipal councilor (1964 -1970) and alderman (1970 – 1986 for youth, sport, recreation and culture), Piet Vink has worked in a special way for the society of The Hague. He was the symbol of community work, community centers, sports clubs. When he retired from active politics in 1986, he became an honorary citizen of The Hague. From that time on, in administrative or advisory positions, he worked for dozens of civil society organizations in The Hague.
