Subsidy for green roofs and insulation
Are you going to create a green roof or insulate your roof or floor? Then you can apply for a subsidy from the Municipality of The Hague.
The municipality is providing the subsidy in order to stimulate residents of The Hague to make their homes more sustainable.
Roof insulation usually leads to lower energy bills. An average row house without roof insulation requires approximately 780 cubic metres of extra gas per year for heating purposes. The municipality has been subsidising the insulation of roofs and floors in the city since 2010. Up until now a total of 155,000 square metres of roofs and floors have been insulated.
The municipality has a sum of € 500,000 available for this until the end of 2015. For roof and/or floor insulation you can get € 12.50 per square metre in subsidy, up to a maximum of 50% of the actual costs.
A green roof covered in plants not only keeps out the cold, but also the heat in the summer. A green roof also has a positive impact on:
- reducing fine particles
- the water balance
- noise pollution
- people’s sense of living in nature.
The subsidy for the construction of green roofs has been issued since 2009. Since the introduction of the subsidies, The Hague now has 35,000 square metres in green roofs. The subsidy for a green roof covers 40% of the construction costs of up to € 10,000 per application. The municipality has a total of € 200,000 available until the end of the year.
You can apply for the subsidies before 1 November 2015. If the budget is used up earlier, the subsidy will close and you will no longer be able to submit an application.
Do you have an idea for a sustainable project in your neighbourhood? For example, ways to save energy at the sport club, making the school more sustainable or planting more green in your area. The municipality is making € 5,000 available to develop your project. Over the past 2 years 40 residents’ associations took part to draw up plans for 50 projects.
More information on subsidies can be found on the Dutch-language municipal website under www.denhaag.nl/subsidies .
