The ‘Haags Historisch Museum’ (Korte Vijverberg 7) acquired a bust that originally was part of the monument Plein 1813. In 1954, after restauration, the sculpture was stored in the depot of the Municipality.  It was now purchased with financial help of the ‘Sebastiaan Genootschap’, a group of representatives of business, trade and industry in The Hague.

The bust symbolises ‘History’. All the bronzes of the monument were made by the sculptor Jacques Jaquet (1030-1898). Plein 1813 reminds us of the disembarkation of King Willem I at Scheveningen and the founding of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
